This guide will briefly introduce you to the "Prey" series written by John Sandford and then provide you with the titles in the order they were published.

John Sandford is the pen name of a Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist who turned to writing fiction.

These are crime thrillers featuring Lucas Davenport, a not-ver-by-the-book police detective. He has a girlfriend who is a TV reporter and she is the mother of his daughter. Lucas sleeps around, so relationship difficulties do work into the storylines.

The books are strong on plot and the characterizations take back seat. However, I have just finished the third book and am feeling like I am getting to know Lucas Davenport pretty well and he is an interesting and appealing character.

The setting is mostly around the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The first book was written in 1989, so if you a are a forensics/techie junkie, you have to take into account they were appropriate for the time. Fast-paced, good detective fiction. I hope you check them out.
